- Payment information: Payment method details processed securely through our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.
- Communications: Messages sent through the GoVybe platform between riders and drivers.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: With your permission, we collect precise GPS location data during ride requests and active rides to connect you with nearby drivers and track trip progress.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, browser type, and app version.
- Usage data: Features you use, pages you view, and actions you take within the app.
- Log data: IP address, access times, and referring URLs.
Information from Third Parties
- If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
- Background check results from our verification partners (for driver accounts).
- Payment transaction data from Stripe.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your GoVybe account
- Connect riders with drivers and facilitate rides
- Process payments and payouts
- Send SMS verification codes and ride notifications (with your consent)
- Verify driver identity and eligibility
- Provide customer support
- Improve and develop our services
- Detect and prevent fraud and safety issues
- Comply with legal obligations
- Send service-related communications (not marketing without your consent)
3. SMS Communications
By providing your phone number and consenting during signup, you agree to receive SMS messages from GoVybe including:
- One-time verification codes for account security
- Ride status notifications (driver on the way, arrived, completed)
- Important account and safety alerts
Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any GoVybe SMS message. For help, reply HELP. Opting out of transactional SMS may affect your ability to use certain features.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:
- Between riders and drivers: To facilitate rides, riders and drivers see each other's name, photo, rating, and general pickup/dropoff area.
- Service providers: Trusted third parties that help us operate (Stripe for payments, Twilio for SMS, Supabase for data storage, Google Maps for navigation). These providers are contractually required to protect your data.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
- With your consent: For any other purpose with your explicit permission.
5. Location Data
Location access is required to use GoVybe's core features. We collect location data:
- When you request a ride (to find nearby drivers)
- During an active ride (to track progress and ensure safety)
- When a driver is online and available
You can disable location access in your device settings, but this will prevent you from using ride-related features. We do not share your precise location history with third parties for advertising purposes.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Some information may be retained for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or safety purposes even after account deletion.
Ride history is retained for 7 years for legal and tax compliance purposes.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update inaccurate information in your profile
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
- Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
- Opt-out: Opt out of non-essential communications

8. Children's Privacy
GoVybe is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your GoVybe account.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Your continued use of GoVybe after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information.
